COZY ON THE RIVER HOME

The owners of the Cozy on the River home contacted us in 2010 to say that they had bought a home sight unseen that they wanted to renovate.

Classic Muskoka Homes performed exploratory demolition during an assessment of the existing home's structure to assess the potential for its renovation.

The floor system proved to be constructed with round log beams that were supporting spans well beyond their safe capacity.

A decision was made to demolish the existing wood frame home, preserving the existing foundation, and to build a new home of conventional wood frame construction in its place.

Preliminary design ideas were revised & refined into a finalized set of construction drawings in early 2011.

A quality steel roof and high-quality (yet cost-effective) windows and doors give this custom home durable aesthetic appeal. An image of the previously existing home, before wood frame demolition & construction. Carpenters are busy with framing the new custom home, following demolition & disposal of the existing wood frame building. A carpenter plumbs a gable end wall using a level in the background behind a rented hydraulic excavator. The custom home builders crew use the services of a mobile crane to hoist long roof trusses into place for the roof structure. Carpenters prepare the wood frame of the roof with underlayments and flashing prior to steel roof installation. The finished custom home build glows in early Spring sunlight on this property in Muskoka. Cruciform finials decorate the gable ends of the cottage and are clad in aluminum sheet metal to give them durability against weather. An antique-style exterior light fixture fits well with this traditional Muskoka custom home. Roof eaves are finished in v-match pine panelling and the fascia is decorated with a shadow-line double fascia to reduce it's visual weight. The walkout basement features 2 bedrooms, laundry room a recreation/family room and a bathroom.

We were awarded the contract to build the home, based on our Fixed-Price construction proposal.

Classic Muskoka Homes assembled a skilled construction crew consisting of two (2) licensed carpenters, one (1) experienced carpenter and one (1) carpentry apprentice.

Work began in the Summer of 2011.  Construction of the Cozy on the River home concluded in early 2012.
